Let’s talk about Henry some more! He is the most spoiled puppy. He has never been offered processed food or treats. Ok, maybe at the vet or at the groomer’s. But never from his momma. For a vegetarian woman, I give my dog a LOT of meat!
His meals are from NutriCanine – a Canadian company that prepares small batch, “gently cooked” food for dogs. I get an 8 week supply at a time – Henry has an entire freezer just for his food!

It comes in a variety of flavours: chicken, turkey, beef, lamb, and pork. I’m ok with most of it, but the ground pork seems really slimy to me. 🤢 The food is full of fruits and veggies, and Henry really loves it. He gets hangry when his momma forgets to take it out of the freezer in time to defrost for breakfast. Even Frankie loves it!

As for treats, he is one spoiled pupper. I made homemade treats for him before he even came home. We had peanut butter and banana, and frozen watermelon coconut treats.

There have been a variety of treats since. I found the best book with some really great recipes for dogs. We’ve had fun with that!

I even tried baking with bacon for him! But thankfully, the bacon kale treats were not a hit! No repeats of that one!

We’ve made treats with blueberries, strawberries, zucchini – taking full advantage of all the produce Southwestern Ontario has to offer.

One day early on, I made him carrot donuts! And then for his birthday, of course he got some pupcakes. And don’t forget the Starbucks puppaccinos! We do them homemade now, too, for special occasions.

His favourite treat, though, may be the humble carrot stick. He carries it around like a cigar for a while before chomping on it.

Ok, gotta run. I have some past-their-prime bananas sitting on my counter, so I have some baking in my future. Banana bread for me, peanut butter banana treats for Henry! ❤️
Oh my goodness – the carrot pics are the best!!!! Love it!! 😍He sure is a spoiled boy! Don’t show this to my boys – they’d be SO jealous! Joel already thinks th
