More Henry!

I was drafting a post about myself – a little exploration of why I’m exclusively a non-fiction girlie with my reading list. But then I got bored with that and was suffering some writer’s block, so I abandoned that post. Maybe it will reappear someday?  

And then Friday morning, Henry suffered a minor injury – his first “ouchie” – so I decided to tell you about that. 

I didn’t see exactly what happened, but he was jumping at Frankie on the kitchen table. He must have landed wrong on his paw, because he whimpered a bit, and started limping.  He was very careful not to put any weight on his left paw. He let me touch it and run my hand down it – nothing seemed to be broken. I’m working on the assumption that it’s just a sprain. I don’t want to be the momma that takes her baby to the vet at every little twinge, but I am experiencing some guilt for not getting him checked out right away. I’ll see how he’s doing over the weekend, and make an assessment as to next steps on Monday morning.  He just looks so sad!

It wasn’t especially busy at work on Friday, so I set up my laptop in the living room, and built a little nest for me and Henry. I sat on the floor with him because he was acting all sucky. He just wanted his momma. ❤️

We had a very quiet day. He usually barks at every vehicle that comes in the laneway, but he took the day off from his guard duties and just relaxed. He did, however, find the strength and energy to chase a couple of cats throughout the course of the day. 

It’s now Saturday morning, and he’s still on the DL, but he’s moving a lot better than he was yesterday. When we were outside, he was pulling me to go for a longer walk around the house, but I’m putting that off for a few days.  He’s doing much better!

While I’m sad that he’s injured, I am enjoying all the extra cuddles!  And I think he’s enjoying the extra treats! 😁
